The STEP Program

  • STEP is a collaborative opportunity where businesses host a skilled worker in an unpaid career placement for a minimum five week period.
  • Employers gain access to skilled and motivated individuals who can address skill shortages while providing economic advantages to the province.
  • Newcomers gain valuable work experience in a Canadian career setting.

Employer Participation

Employer participation is integral to the success of the STEP program in that organizations provide the opportunity for skilled workers to gain valuable Canadian experience and to establish a network of contacts.

Employer Incentives

  • The ANC accepts sole responsibility for all costs associated with insuring clients during the work placement.
  • All clients are job-ready and legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Employers are under no obligation to hire the participant after the placement ends.
  • There are no costs associated with your participation in the program.

  • Thinking about the jobs you need filled;
  • Contacting an AXIS Employment Development Officer; and
  • Registering your organization in our database.
